Just like many other kids, growing up I enjoyed playing video games, whether I played by myself or with my brother. Then, I become a teenager, and have plenty of interests, one of them is computer.
I think my interest with computer is what made me feel like making my own video games. I feel like so many games had made my childhood, and now I want to do exactly that, "Create people's childhood". I don't care if it's cliche, or lame. All I know is that I really want to do this, and I want to be successful doing this.
When I was in elementary school, I didn't know what it takes to make games. Innocently, I tried many websites that allowed me to do so such as sploder.com, which still exist now, but I was never satisfied with the results, I wanted more.
But for a while after that, I didn't see any leads. I didn't know where to start, all I know is I need to know how to codes to make a good game. That's when I decided to study Computer Science, I finished high school, and got into university. Studying computer science isn't exactly as I thought it will be(I'll make a post about that later). But at least, I learned the basics to code, but what then?
Well, I literally didn't know where to go after that. Will I finish college and that's it? Then, it will be all just a waste of time. I went through my freshmen year feeling hopeless, thinking that my dream will never come true. But then in my sophomore year, I picked this elective course called "Multimedia Techniques & Application". And there, is where the professor introduced me to Unity3D. I'm not gonna lie, I heard about Unity before, maybe even played games that said they're made with Unity. But I never really learned what it actually was.
Then I got a homework to make a little game with Unity, and I was excited as hell! I did so many researches I almost abandoned all of my other courses. I discovered that this software is AMAZING! This is exactly what I wanted all this time. I'm so happy that I finally know where to go from here, now I'm in my Junior year and although it's just the beginning of my journey, I finally have hopes.
This is a link to download my homework that I mentioned above : Click here
It's not really a game, just a third person controller exploring the map I created. This actually leads to my first game called "A Little Obstacle". But more of that later. you can check it out if you're interested.
